In 2009, one of our department co-founders, Professor Sheldon Weinbaum, won the inaugural Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) Diversity Award
In 2010, our former Dean Gilda Barabino won the second BMES Society Diversity Award
In 2011, our department was ranked #1 in Diversity for all BME PhD Programs in the US by the National Research Council
In 2015, our department became the first program to collectively win the BMES Diversity Award, and the annual lecture was delivered by Former Chair Professor Tarbell
