To register for classes, you must first meet with your academic advisor. Advisors are usually available Monday through Friday. Contact our Front Desk ( cwefrontdesk@ccny.cuny.edu ) to schedule your appointment. You can also check with the Front Desk to ask if your advisor is available for a walk-in appointment.

To secure your appointment, your email must include the following information:

  • In the subject line, write Request for advising appointment
  • Full name
  • EMPLID
  • Your Citymail address
  • Phone number
  • Advisor's name (If known)
  • Intended major
  • Your preferred dates and times (not guaranteed, but will be considered)

Once you have submitted your request with all the required information, we will process it and send you a confirmation email. This email will include the date, time, and instructions for accessing the meeting, whether it is in person, online, or by phone.

In preparation for your appointment, we recommend reviewing our academic calendar and class schedule available for the semester you are registering for. This will help you become familiar with our various class delivery methods and the classes offered during your registration semester.

4 - New and Re-Entry Student Orientation

New and Re-Entry Student Orientation Event

Every semester, the division hosts the New and Re-Entry Student Orientation event to help you start strong. This event is your opportunity to meet key faculty and staff, including the Dean, Department Chair, academic advisors, some of your professors, financial aid coordinator, librarian, and social worker. They will welcome you, share advice, and guide you to the resources, support, and encouragement you need for a successful semester.

Since you'll also be meeting your fellow students, orientation is a great networking opportunity! Consider updating or signing up for a LinkedIn account to start building your professional network early.

You will receive the latest version of the New Student Orientation Guide and the updated Glossary of Important Terms for CWE Students via email—please bring these documents with you to orientation. If you haven’t received them, check your inbox or contact us for assistance.

We look forward to meeting you!

Engage and Grow with Our Events

In addition to orientation, we organize a variety of events focused on student life, career development, and lifelong learning. These may include workshops, guest lectures, and skill-building sessions that go beyond your academic program to expand your knowledge and perspective.
