About Quest
Quest is a community of retired and semi-retired intellectually curious people from all walks of life who are eager to learn in a relaxed, supportive environment. We are a not-for-profit organization with a diverse membership; we do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sexual orientation, disability, age, or religion. In fact, we feel that the more diversity we have in our membership, the more interesting are our classes and discussions.
Quest was born in 1995 when a group of retirees was successful in securing the daytime facilities of the CCNY's Division of Interdisciplinary Studies at the Center for Worker Education (CCNY CWE) to initiate a platform for lifelong learning, exchanging ideas, and developing new interests.
Today, Quest is a vital part of the CCNY family with nearly 245 active members who lead classes, self-administer more than 35 peer-taught courses each semester and actively participate in committee and social activities.
Classes are held twice each day, Monday through Thursday in the spring and fall: 10:30 AM β noon and 1:00 β 2:30 PM. Fridays are reserved for group visits to New Yorkβs cultural institutions. In the summer, the Quest Summer Encore Program gives Quest members a second chance to see favorite presentations on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 10:30 to noon.
Membership
Leave a message at 212-925-6625 ext. 229, or email us at questlifelonginfo@gmail.com and someone from the Membership Committee will be in touch to answer your questions and arrange a time for you to visit.
During your visit, you will meet with several Quest members who will take you on a tour, explain how the Quest community works and discuss your interests. You also will be able to attend one or two classes during your visit.
The cost of a Quest membership is $550 for a full year, including the summer Encores Program.
Courses
Quest courses run in the fall and spring terms, each 14 weeks, along with an eight-week summer session in June and July.
Classes alternate weeks, so each course is approximately seven sessions (contingent upon holidays). Classes that meet in the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 11th, and 13th weeks are designated A-Week classes. Those that meet in the alternate weeks are B-Week classes.
