The Ad PR Program is grateful to our professional partners and alumni who generously provide scholarships, fellowships and internships for competitive majors in the Ad/PR program. These opportunities give significant industry access and support to our diverse students.

 

ART STEVENS PRSA/NY CCNY Ad/PR SCHOLARSHIP 

 
Professor Lynn Appelbaum and recent recipients, this scholarship is awarded each year at the Communications Alumni Dinner.
 
In 2008, Art Stevens, an esteemed alumnus of The City College of New York, and a distinguished leader in the public relations industry, established the Art Stevens PRSA/NY CCNY  Ad/PR Scholarship.  The $5,000 scholarship, awarded in spring towards tuition assistance for the following academic year, supports students who are academically competitive and who have a desire to pursue a career in communications. 
 
Art Stevens scholars have gone on to pursue successful careers in communications or other professional areas.  Here is a look at some of the scholars from the first 10 years.

THE Y&R DOT GIANNONE Y&R  AWARD AND INTERNSHIP

To celebrate Dot Giannone, Executive Vice President, Director of Account Management, for her distinguished service, Y&R established the Y&R Dot Giannone CCNY Scholarship and Internship in 2015The scholarship recognizes Dot for her profound impact on many CCNY Ad PR students whose lives she shaped by hosting and mentoring over 300 Ad PR interns since 2005.  Many went on to obtain full time jobs at Y&R directly upon graduation and have moved on to senior posts at Y&R and other agencies.

The $3,000 tuition scholarship is accompanied by a paid summer internship at Y&R.  Students apply for the scholarship in Spring, which is applied to the following semester tuition.  

 

IRTS SUMMER FELLOWSHIP SPONSORED BY CCNY ALUM BETSY FRANK

Since 2014, each spring a CCNY student is awarded one of the IRTS Foundation's prestigious, expense-paid Summer Fellowships in New York City, thanks to a sponsorship provided by alum Betsy Frank, a visionary leader in the communications industry and Director on the IRTS Board. Current Junior, Senior, and Graduate students from all majors are encouraged to apply. 
 
Applications are reviewed in the spring semester and are competitive.
 
Acknowledged as one of the nation's best internship opportunities in the media and communications industry, the IRTS Summer Fellowship Program is held during June through August. The IRTS Summer Fellowship Program has had a key role in launching the careers of top professionals in the media business for more than 40 years. 
The program includes: 
  • Housing in the heart of Greenwich Village for the nine-week duration of the Fellowship 
  • A Weekly Allowance 
  • A one-week orientation to the media industry, featuring access to top business leaders and companies. 
  • An eight-week customized internship in an area of interest, e.g. advertising sales, marketing, journalism, production, interactive media, media buying 
  • Transportation to and from New York City at the beginning and end of the program 
  • IRTS sponsored seminars and career coaching sessions throughout the summer

 

THE FINN PARTNERS CCNY Ad/PR DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION AWARD AND INTERNSHIP

 

Ad/PR major Chantal Gomez was named the 2017-18 Finn Partners Diversity and Inclusion Scholar and Intern from CCNY.

Finn Partners created the Finn Partners CCNY Ad PR Diversity and Inclusion Award and Internship in 2017 to support talented multicultural students in the Ad PR program and to provide professional mentorship and experience through an internship at this leading agency.
 
In addition to a $3,000 scholarship towards spring tuition, students  take a part-time paid internship during the spring semester with Finn Partners.  Applications are reviewed in the fall semester and are competitive. 
 
 
In the past, Ad PR students have benefitted from generous scholarship by Group M and Women Executives in Public Relations.
