Dear Members of the City College Campus Community, I’m writing to update you on recent events on campus and to provide you with some guidance about tomorrow. As you likely know by now, there is an encampment of demonstrators on our quad, and it is posing significant difficulties for us. Throughout our history, inclusive of these last few months, we have respected the right to protest and the values of academic and speech freedom. Events since October have put those commitments to the test, but we have endeavored to reconcile the tensions that often exist between supporting free… Read More »

Dear Campus Community, I write today with a brief update on on-campus activities that have taken place over the last several days. Just before 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 25, a group of demonstrators calling themselves the “CUNY Gaza Solidarity Encampment” set up a tent encampment on our quad. Although they are sited at the CCNY campus, most of their demands are directed at the University. The demonstrators appear to be made up of students, faculty and staff from City College and across the CUNY system and a sizable contingent that is not affiliated with any CUNY campus. We face… Read More »
