Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership

Powell School Banner Giving Priorities 2

The Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership supports an extraordinary faculty in the social sciences, dedicated to the highest standards of research. We celebrate the university’s democratic and public obligations, including the responsibility to disseminate research in usable forms to concerned audiences, particularly to those striving to redress injustice or disparity. We foster creative and public scholarship, and our faculty produce research that is both relevant and in-touch.

Our student body is among the most diverse in the United States. They study power, wealth, cognition, culture and our connections to one another. We promote the values of service, engagement, and leadership in ways that enable graduates to tackle big challenges and tough jobs—to affect domestic and international policy, law, business and finance, and individual and organizational psychological well-being.

The Colin Powell School is the largest unit at CCNY, with nearly one-third of the College’s graduates each year. From Psychology to Business, Political Science to Anthropology, Economics to Sociology—and most of the College’s public service and leadership development programs. Colin Powell School graduates are ready to be leaders in service to our city, our country, and the world. Your generous support makes all of this possible.

Thanks to donor support, we have been able to:

  • Provide more than 500 scholarships annually to our students, which in turn helps the Colin Powell School and CCNY lead the nation in providing social mobility for graduates.

  • Establish nationally-recognized leadership development, public service, and honors pre-law programs, cementing diversity pipeline programs across a range of professions.

  • Launch the cutting edge and robust wrap-around student advising, mentoring, and professional development services for our almost 4,000 students.
