Sound Yoga Therapy
This introduction course lays the groundwork for integrating sound yoga therapy into your work as a mental healthcare professional, wellness/yoga professional, clergy, coach, or professional caregiver.
- Dive into the science of sound therapy and explore how music can support mental clarity, healing, and focus.
- Learn introductory techniques of sound meditation – including repeated phrasing (mantra), toning, vibration, and how to use sound to enhance meditation and well-being.
- Strengthen your voice with transformative chanting and toning techniques that create a deep connection to your inner self.
- Integrate English affirmations or traditional yogic mantras into your sessions -- whether for groups or one-on-one health or wellness practices.
- Learn to weave sound elements into your classes, sessions, and personal practice, making each session a more immersive experience.
- Learn the structure of a sound bath and begin to craft unique, mesmerizing sound journeys. In person students can explore the magic of sonic meditation instruments – including Himalayan bowls, Koshi chimes, the Shruti box tuning forks, the harmonium, and more.

This course is ideal for anyone with a 200 hr Yoga Teaching Certificate or with an interest in integrating sound work into therapy, coaching, mental healthcare, wellness or yoga sessions, clergy ministers, or professional caregivers.
Basic music knowledge is helpful but not required. Students may also take the course for personal enrichment.
Learning Objectives:
- Toning using seed syllables to free the voice
- The relationship of manifestation and sound
- Traditional stories behind the mantras
- An introduction to working with sound instruments
- How to use mantra in everyday life and in classes respectfully and mindfully
- The concepts of resonance, entertainment, cymatics, deep listening, and more
- The science behind sound work for wellness, to ground oneself as a practitioner, and more
- Using chants as part of a steadying personal practice (or sadhāna)
- The structure of a sound bath
- Introduction to playing the meditative instruments - including the shruti box and harmonium
- How to interweave sound work into yoga class
