Dear Members of the Campus Community,
I am pleased to announce that today we welcome our new Chief Diversity Officer, Sheryl Konigsberg, to campus. Sheryl comes to us after years of work as an attorney in the Bronx DA’s office, and carries with her a wealth of experience in managing investigations into bias, harassment, and other forms of discrimination. She also comes with years of experience in trauma informed interview techniques. At CCNY, she will shoulder additional responsibility for deepening our diversity, equity, and inclusion programming, and will be actively seeking out the places on campus where that work is underway, in order to strengthen our campus-wide initiatives in this area.
Diana Couzzo will remain on staff for a few additional weeks to ease Sheryl’s transition. Diana came into this office during a period of significant difficulty and executed the CDO’s responsibilities with a combination of efficiency, precision, and sensitivity. She agreed to remain in the position on a remote basis while we searched for her replacement, an arrangement which was difficult for her, but essential for the preservation of continuity in our office of diversity and inclusion operations. I am deeply grateful for her support and service over these past years.
