Application

The eligibility requirements for U-RISE trainees:

• Must be a U.S. citizen or hold Permanent Resident Status (i.e., a green card).

• Must be an undergraduate majoring in Science, Biomedical Engineering, or Psychology, and indicate an intent to pursue graduate training (Ph.D.), NOT a clinical career.     

• IF YOU INTEND TO APPLY TO MEDICAL SCHOOL YOU ARE NOT ELIGIBLE!

• Should have a GPA of 3.2 or higher and be a full-time student.

• Should have completed at least 60 credits, and earned no more than 80 credits in the semester of application (i.e. ideally you will be a sophomore or rising junior).

• Must not have other federal grant support (this does not include scholarships like Pell grants).

The CCNY U-RISE program targets sophomores from nationally underrepresented groups at CCNY, and eligible students who have already or plan to transfer to CCNY from a community college or other higher education institution.

To apply to the program, download and complete the application form. You must also have 2 faculty members submit reference letters on your behalf. These should be submitted directly to the U-RISE program director Prof Jonathan Levitt. (jlevitt AT ccny DOT cuny DOT edu)
