Millicent Roth
Profile
Dr. Millicent Roth established the City College Academy for Professional Preparation (CCAPP) in 1987 from a grant sponsored by the New York State Department of Education. The grant has brought six million dollars to the college to fund student support services and activities, such as advising and tutoring, and provides stipend support to undergraduate research students and interns.
She established a pre-freshman summer program for science, math and engineering students that in its 25 years of operation has been responsible for the success of its many participants, including the college's first Rhodes Scholar.
When she was a member of the SEEK counseling staff, she initiated a mini-semester for CCNY students to spend a week at Brookhaven National Laboratory to learn about the STEM professions. This mini-semester continues as a state-wide program for N.Y.S.' opportunity program students.
