CCNY President Gregory H. Williams to Receive Langston Hughes Medal NEW YORK, March 3, 2009 – World-renowned philosopher, scholar and author Dr. Kwame Anthony Appiah will deliver the second annual City College of New York President’s Lecture at CCNY 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 10. He will address “Race and The New Genomics.” The lecture, in The Great Hall, Shepard Hall, will be preceded by the presentation of the College’s Langston Hughes Medal to Dr. Gregory H. City College art lecturer Tom Thayer , a performance artist who “operates at the intersection of the hand-crafted and the technological,” will premiere one of his live performances and give a talk about his work at New York’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) 7 p.m. Monday, December 16. Mr. Thayer’s work explores shifts that occur when a three-dimensional object, such as a collage or sculpture, is represented in another medium. Many of his performances incorporate short videos that he and his siblings shot as teenagers. Mr. Thayer previously participated in the 2012 Whitney Biennial. “This is an
