Vincent Boudreau Appointed First Dean of Colin Powell School

Dr. Vincent Boudreau is the first permanent dean of the Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership at The City College of New York. The CUNY Board of Trustees approved his appointment at its January 27 meeting. Dr. Jeffrey Rosen, a professor of psychology, had been serving as interim dean since the school’s inauguration in April 2013. Alumna Pamela Thomas Makes Mark Collecting Black Animation Art

Exhibit featuring artwork from ‘Harlem Globetrotters,’ ‘The Jackson 5ive” and ‘Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids’ opens February 5 at the Schomburg Center Over the past 15 years, Pamela Thomas, a member of The City College of New York Class of 1996, and business partner Loreen Williamson have assembled one of the most extensive collections of 1970s black animation art in the United States. The City College of New York observes Black History Month with a rich array of activities that includes social events, film screenings, performances, lectures and more. Aaron Davis Hall Hosts NY Debut of Hate Crimes Film

“Hate Crimes in the Heartland” aims to foster dialogue on race relations in the United States “Hate Crimes in the Heartland,” a new documentary that explores the 250,000 hate crimes committed in the United States each year, will have its New York premiere 6 p.m. Thursday, February 6, in Aaron Davis Hall on The City College of New York campus. Retha Powers’ Book of Black Quotations Nominated for NAACP Award

A book edited by Retha Powers, acting assistant director of City College's publishing certificate program, has been nominated for an NAACP Image Award . “ Bartlett’s Familiar Black Quotations : 5,000 Years of Literature, Lyrics, Poems, Passages, Phrases, and Proverbs from Voices Around the World” (Little, Brown and Co., 2013), is vying for the NAACP’s “Outstanding Literary Work” prize in the non-fiction category.
