The work of Dr. Stanley Thangaraj at the Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership is built around examining the ways in which these three elements help us understand the politics of citizenship and finding ways to expand the parameters of belonging. Keeping social justice as his focus, Dr. Thangaraj works to unravel the negotiations between race, gender, violence, and equality through his work done both inside and outside of the classroom - being heavily involved in both the Audre Lorde Project and the Anti-Violence Project . In his book, Desi Hoop Dreams , Dr. Thangaraj analyzes the stereotypes associated with race, gender and sport; factors that either consciously or subconsciously touch us all.
