Research
Qualified students are encourage to become research assistants to faculty and must complete a capstone research project as part of the major requirements sequence. Many are assisted in their research with support from the CCNY National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Cooperative for Remote Sensing Science and Technology (CREST) Center and the CUNY-GISS REU: Global Climate Change. Through an exciting research program with the United States Geological Survey (USGS), up to ten students per summer are supported to perform fieldwork under the direct supervision of USGS scientists. Student fieldwork under this program has been carried out from New Jersey to Massachusetts, with new possibilities being created throughout the United States. Internships are also available in a variety of earth science disciplines with the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California.
