We welcomed for the third consecutive year Nicholas Almonte, who is again the youngest of our summer visitors. He has become a fixture in the summer program who can be counted on to enrich the discussion with his fresh curiosity. This year he was interested in examining how U.S. mentalities have penetrated the Dominican Republic. Focusing on pivotal moments of contact between the two countries, he studied how food, music, language, religion, and identity migrate, transporting the mindsets of one society to another.
