_____
The Queering CCNY Mural Project is a project to share community and storytelling among CCNY's LGBTQ+, questioning, and allied students, staff, faculty, and alumni. Created by the LGBTQ+ Student Center's Student Advisory Board and inspired by queeringthemap.com (you can also che ck out the website for inspiration on what to write)
How it Works:
CCNY's LGBTQ+, questioning, and allied folks share their stories or identities on the construction paper and marker provided. Choose your favorite color paper, write, and drop it in the lavender box. Feel free to be completely anonymous or sign your name.
Where can I share my story?:
Drop-off boxes are in
- The CCNY LGBTQ+ Student Center | NAC 1/101B
- The Towers at CCNY
- CCNY Health and Wellness Services | Marshak J-15
- Colin Powell School Student Center | NAC 6/289
- USG Hub Space | Wingate 112
- CUNY School of Medicine Counseling and Wellness Office | HH-113
- Spitzer School of Architecture | 2nd Floor Cafe
- You can also submit online via tinyurl.com/queeringccny
What can I write about?:
It can be a sentence, or two, a paragraph, or a drawing about:
- Stories of coming out
- Stories in the closet
- Encounters with violence
- Moments of rapturous love
- Anything that tells your LGBTQ+ story
How do I see the mural?:
The Queering CCNY Mural Project is permanently on display in the LGBTQ+ Student Center (NAC 1/101B). Additions to this mural will be revealed on CCNY's National Coming Out Day (Thursday, Oct. 10th, 2024) and remain a permanent and growing display on our campus. After National Coming Out Day, submissions are welcome year-round online and within the LGBTQ+ Student Center drop-off box.
This event is made possible through the generous support of LaGuardia Community College and the New York City Council LGBT and Queer Caucus.
This event will be archived at the LaGuardia and Wagner Archives.
