To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of the U.S. occupation and the departure of the remaining U.S. troops from the Dominican Republic, the CUNY Dominican Studies (CUNY DSI) presents a conference featuring distinguished speakers from the Dominican Republic and the United States.

The event includes two panels:

• Panel 1 - Friday, September 27, 3pm-5pm: Dominican resistance to the US occupation and its impact on inter-American relations

• Dr. Ellen D. Tillman, Associate Professor of History, Texas State University, author of Dollar Diplomacy by Force: Nation-Building and Resistance in the Dominican Republic (University of North Carolina Press, 2016)
