ARGENTINA: PERSPECTIVES AND CHALLENGES FOR THE NEW GOVERNMENT

SPECIAL GUEST: Dr. Juan Luis Manzur -Governor of the Province of Tucumán, Argentina-

Juan Luis Manzur studied at the National University of Tucumán and graduated with a MD degree in 1992. He is also a medical auditor, a legal doctor, and a specialist in General Medicine. Manzur was the first National Minister of Health from Tucumán, since the creation of the post in 1946 and the first national minister of the province of Tucumán since the return of democracy to Argentina in 1983. In addition to his duties as governor, Manzur has served since 2016 as president pro tempore of the Integration Zone of the Central West of South America (ZICOSUR). It is an economic zone comprising seven countries – Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay.

Ernesto Revilla is the Head of Latin American Economics at Citibank in NYC. He joined Citi in 2015 as Mexico economist, following a 12-year career at Mexico’s Finance Ministry. Since last August, he has headed Citi’s Latin American economic research team in New York. Earlier, Revilla was an economist at the World Bank in Washington, dealing with financial sector issues, as well as being an East Asia economist. Revilla studied economics at the undergraduate level at ITAM in Mexico and at the graduate level at the University of Chicago.                          

Danielle A. Zach is the Frances S. Patai Postdoctoral Fellow in Holocaust, Genocide and Human Rights Studies in The Division of Interdisciplinary Studies at City College Downtown. She is also Senior Editorial and Research Fellow at the CUNY Graduate Center’s Ralph Bunche Institute for International Studies. She was previously Assistant Professor of Political Science at Adelphi University and Visiting Scholar of Irish Studies at New York University. Her research focuses on civil wars and violence, social movements, and diaspora politics.
