We are honored to spotlight Easy Meets, a dynamic startup from our 2024 Venture Incubator and Competition cohort. Founded by Marwh Alzandani and Basmalla Attia, Easy Meets is a marketplace that simplifies planning hangouts and trips for groups or individuals, while providing businesses with valuable insights into potential customers. As the Standard Chartered Women+Tech grand prize winners, Marwah and Basmalla received $15,000 to help drive their innovative venture forward.
Reflecting on their entrepreneurial journey, Marwh shared, “I fell into it accidentally. It wasn't something I had in mind. I was actually studying pre-med at the time I heard of a Blackstone startup competition. I had an idea for tourism and thought let's see where it goes. I actually submitted my application 13 minutes before the deadline! I was a runner-up! After that, I was just like what about this program? Are you interested in that program? It was like okay, I see a future in this. That's how I continued with entrepreneurship. By the way, when I joined that competition I didn't know what entrepreneurship was nor was I able to spell it. It was the first time I heard of it and it was just something that I instantly fell in love with.”
“Entrepreneurship has something different about it that I seem to lean toward," said Basmalla. “It's that risk-taking appetite. It's that perseverance that I like. It's a constantly changing market and you're adapting and that to me is pure joy. It is even more fun when you have competitors in the market in the same field. You see a different approach to the same problem. What can you do that's better? And you hope that this problem that you're solving is really making a difference in someone else's life. I feel like that's really what being an entrepreneur is.”
Let’s celebrate the vision, resilience, and impact of founders like Marwh and Basmalla, who are not only building successful ventures but are also inspiring the next generation of women founders.
