BME Transfer Students

We are excited to welcome students who wish to transfer, or have successfully transferred, into the BME program at CCNY! This includes students from other CUNY colleges as well as outside the university.

BME @ CCNY regularly welcomes several transfer students each year. These students quickly integrate into our daily student life and go on to enjoy the same wonderful career opportunities as all of our graduates. You belong at BME @ CCNY!

However, we know sometimes it is hard to find the right answers during this process. Please follow the sequence below:

  1. Start by reading the overview of our BE and BME program here, this page on our degree requirements, the official CCNY Undergraduate Bulletin page on our program, and finally our undergrad program FAQ.
  2. Start with the Grove School of Engineering Transfer (GSOE) information page for a clear overview. Make sure you satisfy the entrance requirements on that page. You should also read the more general CCNY transfer student information page.
  3. Evaluate your potential transfer credits against our current curriculum sheet. CCNY offers transfer credit evaluation services for CUNY or non-CUNY students, and CUNY students may use the T-REX transfer explorer system. Please note that BME has a 30 credit Residency Requirement--meaning you must take at least 30 credits in BME @ CCNY above the 30000 level to obtain your degree from our department.
  4. Once you have your plan, apply using the CUNY application page. Please see the general CCNY admissions page for more information on navigating this process.
  5. Await your admission decision--if accepted, accept the offer and complete any record requests/deposit fees.
  6. Schedule a meeting with our BME Undergrad Advisor, Dr. Payton. If you have any issues throughout the process before you get to this point--you are also encouraged to reach out to Dr. Payton for help.
  7. Enroll in classes, attend orientation, and come to class!
  8. Once you are in the program--make sure you speak with your professors, faculty advisor, or classmates about any questions or concerns you might have. Welcome to the family.
  9. If you have any issues with this process and have already contacted CCNY Admissions and Dr. Payton, please reach out to our Department Chair, Dr. Schaffler. He is happy to help if needed.
