Please review FAQs below:
What is DegreeWorks?
DegreeWorks is a degree progress and academic advising tool. It is designed to enhance the academic advisement process and is not intended to replace face-to-face academic advisement. It allows you to view the progress you are making toward your degree at anytime via the web.
There is a “What-If” feature that allows you to see how your course-work may be used should you consider changing your major.
How do I access DegreeWorks?
Three ways to access DegreeWorks:
- DegreeWorks link in the CUNYfirst "Student Center" page
- CCNY website "LOGIN" DegreeWorks link, see below.
How do I benefit from using DegreeWorks?
- Determine what requirements you need to complete your degree.
- View individual course grades, cumulative grade-point average (GPA).
- Determine which courses you have taken or transferred, and which ones count as electives.
- View transfer credits, exceptions and exemptions applied toward your program of study.
- See how your coursework can be applied toward another major, concentration, or minor using the ‘What-If’ option.
- Estimate how many semesters it will take you to graduate.
How do I read my DegreeWorks "Worksheet"?
The audit is designed in a logical hierarchy. The first section displays basic information such as your name, degree objective, major, etc. The following sections list the overall requirements to earn your degree, CUNY Skills Assessment Tests, major, minor and concentration, if required.
Additional Courses Taken, Non-Contributing Grades and Pending Permit Courses, and finally In-Progress courses are listed toward the bottom of the audit. An advisor can assist you with reading your DegreeWorks audit.

Who is my Academic Advisor?
School and divisional advisors locations are listed here: https://www.ccny.cuny.edu/financialaid/list-liaison
- If you are not assigned a specific advisor, you may visit your Academic Division in order to seek advisement or guidance.
- SEEK students must see their SEEK advisors in NAC 5/226.
- The Student Academic Success HUB: THE HUB, located in NAC 1/219, provides academic services for students who have not yet decided upon, or have not yet been accepted into, a major field of study.
How is the DegreeWorks "Worksheet" different from a Transcript?
DegreeWorks is not your academic transcript, nor is it an official notification of completion of degree requirements. It is an academic advising tool designed to help students monitor their progress toward degree completion.
Updates made to your official academic record will take at least 24 to 48 hours to be reflected in your DegreeWorks audit. However, DegreeWorks does not supersede the College Catalog and/or academic policies.
Your transcript is your official college record, and it must be requested from the Registrar’s Office. Go to the Transcript Request page to order a transcript online.
How do I order an official transcript?
Your transcript is your official college record, and it must be requested from the Registrar’s Office. Go to the Transcript Request page to order a transcript online.
Is my DegreeWorks audit correct?
Always consult with your advisor if you have any questions about your particular degree requirements. Your advisor will explain any difference between the audit and the advice you are receiving.

I’m thinking about changing my major, how is the “what-If” feature helpful?
Utilize the 'What-If' feature to select your proposed degree, major, and, if applicable, concentration. This will display the requirements for your selection and show how your completed coursework may align with the program you are considering. You may use this link to learn details about the DegreeWorks 'What-If' feature.
Note:
In order to officially change or declare a major, you must submit an "Online Major Request" to the Office of the Registrar, see below:
iDeclare - Declaration of Plan, Sub-Plan and Minor
If I use the “What-If” feature does this mean that I have changed my major?
No, selecting a 'What-If' major does not change your official major; it shows how your credits could be applied if you decide to make a change.
Note: If you would like to change your major you must initiate this process by completing an “Online Major Request” to the Office of the Registrar:
My major is wrong, what should I do?
Complete an electronic Declaration of Plan, Sub-Plan and Minor form which is available from the Office of the Registrar webpage or by clicking on the link below:
iDeclare - Declaration of Plan, Sub-Plan and Minor

What does "Elective Classes Allowed" mean?
Students are allowed a different number of general electives depending on the amount of coursework completed, as well as the number of credits required by a student's major or minor, to meet the total number of credits required for the degree program.
A student with an undeclared major will have a higher number of elective courses than a student who has declared a major or minor, and the elective classes allowed may change as majors are declared. Always consult with an academic advisor before selecting your courses each semester.
What does the "Elective Classes NOT Allowed" mean?
"Elective classes not allowed" may count towards the degree and total credit count.
However, any course that exceeds the number of credits for Elective Classes Allowed or do not apply to any requirement, will fall into this section. Students should pay attention to this area, since ‘In-Progress’ courses that appear in this section can affect financial aid eligibility.
