Profile
Dr. Dani McBeth is Associate Medical Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. He has also been Associate Dean for Student Affairs since 2001. He has been at Sophie Davis since 1986. He teaches major portions of the basic microbiology and bacteriology portions of the Medical Microbiology and Immunology course for both medical students and physician's assistants students. As the Associate Dean of Student Affairs, he is currently very involved in the admissions process, in advising students on a variety of issues, in guiding students through the matching process to the final two years of medical school and what seems like a million other things.

Research Interests
Identifying and characterizing encoded genes and their products which function to repair DNA-damaging agents like UV-radiation .
Characterizing bacteria with regard to their degradative capabilities & The plasmid DNA that they carry.
Identification of potential antibiotics from secondary metabolites extracted from plant tissue and study compounds and how they inhibit bacterial growth.
