Profile
Dr. Aaron Finbloom is an interdisciplinary philosopher whose work weaves together experimental pedagogy, philosophical therapeutics, and performative philosophy. He holds a B.A. in Analytic Philosophy from Washington University, a M.A. in Continental Philosophy and Aesthetics from SUNY Stony Brook and a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Humanities from Concordia University.
At City College, Dr. Finbloom primarily teaches courses in ethics, introductory philosophy, and Nietzsche. His teaching approach emphasizes critical engagement using traditional academic pedagogy (lecture, dialogue, and rational argument) as well as alternative pedagogies inclusive of: meditation, language games, phenomenological investigations, structured debate and relational practices.
Dr. Finbloom's research explores the intersections of philosophy, performance, and therapeutic arts. His work interrogates how philosophical dialogue can be transformed into embodied practices, creating “thinking games” and embodied conversational frameworks that encourage reflection and transformation. These explorations often challenge traditional academic boundaries, re-imagining philosophical inquiry as a space for performative and relational engagement. Through these presentations and related publications Dr. Finbloom investigates how philosophy can serve as a transformative and aesthetic medium for personal and collective inquiry.
