Peter J. Delfyett, Jr., a 1981 alumnus of The City College of New York and one of the world’s pre-eminent ultrafast photonics researchers, is the winner of the 2021 Arthur L. Schawlow Prize in Laser Science from the American Physical Society (APS). City College English professor Emily Raboteau is the recipient of a grant from the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA). The fellowship recognizes Raboteau, award-winning writer, climate activist and professor in CCNY’s MFA Program in Creative Writing, in the Nonfiction Literature discipline. She was also a NYFA Fiction Fellow in 2004. Raboteau is the author of “The Professor’s Daughter” and “Searching for Zion,” winner of a 2014 American Book Award in nonfiction. Luis Abreu, a senior at The City College of New York majoring in civil engineering, is one of 25 Americans selected as Minority Student Fellows by the Washington, D.C.-based Transportation Research Board (TRB), a program unit of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.
