City College honors architect Carl Stein at the 2017 Presidential Awards Gala

Renowned restoration architect Carl Stein FAIA’s work includes the protection and preservation of The City College of New York campus and its historic architecture. For this, he will receive the President’s Leadership Award at the Presidential Awards Gala on May 2 in The Great Hall. The gala celebrates City College’s 170 th anniversary. The City College of New York’s Grove School of Engineering students Isamar Garrido Rodriguez and Patrick Tuttle are 2017 Society of Chemical Industry Scholars. City College dominates Salk awards again

For the second year running, The City College of New York is the recipient of four of the eight Jonas E. Salk Scholarships awarded by The City University of New York this year. The scholarships recognize exceptional students who plan careers in medicine and the biological sciences. As Salk Scholars, Marisol Cortés, Anika Nabila, Christopher Reid and Violeta Contreras Ramirez will each receive a stipend of $8,000 to be appropriated over three or four years of medical studies. A green project by an interdisciplinary team of City College of New York students is the winner of The United States Environmental Protection Agency’s fifth annual Campus RainWorks Challenge. The Graduate Program in Educational Theatre at The City College of New York presents the seventh annual Harlem Children’s Festival, Saturday, May 6 at Aaron Davis Hall. ConEd funds CCNY’s NYCT braking energy study

Research led by electrical engineering professor Ahmed Mohamed at The City College of New York could lead to a more energy efficient rail transit system as his group explores how to capture regenerative braking energy.
