City College's first Family Day is Saturday, October 5.
Day of fun filled with exciting activities for all ages
The City College of New York hosts its first Family Day on Saturday, October 5, filled with fun activities across the campus for all ages. Family Day starts at 9 a.m. with registration and a light breakfast. Activities end at 7 p.m.
For children, there will be face painting, storytelling, video games and craft workshops. Adults and teens will enjoy a basketball game pitting City College faculty and staff against City College students, yoga, lectures and salsa/mambo and Bollywood dance lessons. There will also be a DJ contest and dance party with celebrity guest judge DJ Mell Starr of Master of the Mix.
In addition, The City College Center for the Arts at Aaron Davis Hall will present performances at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. of “Carlos Dos Santos Jr. Dance.” This new work by Mr. Dos Santos, a former Alvin Ailey dancer and choreographer, celebrates his 20th anniversary in the United States.
Tickets for Family Day can be purchased for $5 at the Welcome Center in the North Academic Center on the CCNY campus or for $7 online at http://tinyurl.com/ccnyfamilyday2013. Tickets for “Carlos Dos Santos Dance Jr.” are $5 for students with ID cards and seniors and $15 general admission. They can be purchased atwww.adhatccny.org.
