Harlem Week 2024 takes place from Aug. 3-18 with the NYRR's Percy Sutton Harlem 5K on Aug. 10.
The City College of New York celebrates the 50th Anniversary of Harlem Week: Celebrate the Journey at the New York Road Runners’ Percy Sutton Harlem 5K where Team CCNY will take on the streets and hills of Harlem on Aug. 10.
In partnership with the Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce, Harlem Week began in 1974 and is an annual celebration of the best of Harlem taking place from Aug. 3-18. The events promote the neighborhood’s history in arts, culture, religion, entertainment and sports.
The 5K race honors the late Percy Sutton, who was the Manhattan borough president in the 1970s and who championed the New York City Marathon as a five-borough event.
Youth ages 2-18 are also invited to participate through Rising New York Road Runners, which offers free events that are designed to be fun and inclusive for children.
