Our Oral Communication training took a novel turn with a staged reading of the play 'The Half-Life of Marie Curie' presented by Break-a-Leg Productions. Participants in the G-RISE, NanoBioNYC, and CUNY Ph.D. Program in Chemistry joined members of the general public to pack the CUNY Graduate Center's 70-person Segal Theater to learn about the personal challenges faced by a two-time Nobel prize-winning woman scientist at the outset of the 20th century. The workshop showcased oral communication of science and DEIA issues in a rich performance format that included a reading by professional actresses as well as a give-and-take talk back period. A great change of pace and a good time for all!
