The Upskilling Grant, however, has very specific eligibility requirements.   NYS Department of Labor requires our students to (1) be legally permitted to work in the U.S., (2) be a New York resident, (3) unemployed or underemployed, and (4) be able to provide a Social Security Number as part of the application.

According to Forbes, the global Artificial Intelligence (AI) healthcare market was worth $19.68 billion in 2023 and 90% of hospitals are projected to use AI technology for early diagnosis and remote monitoring by 2025. The U.S. AI in healthcare market size was valued at USD 6.07 billion in 2023 and is expected to be worth around USD 195.01 billion by 2034 (Global Market insights).

This 8-week beginner-friendly specialized online course, AI in Health Care: From Strategies to Implementation, will help individuals working in the healthcare/health tech area navigate knowledge, strategy, and framework to design and implement AI-driven solutions.

The course will specifically provide an opportunity to understand the National AI Intelligence Strategic Plan, the UN Sustainable Development Goal AI Strategies, and the AI Strategy from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. It will also walk through the fundamentals of modern AI, with challenges, opportunities, and methodology to overcome.

Mehdi Hasan, Ph.D., PMP

Mehdi Hasan's profile picture

With a decade of experience in Human-Computer Interaction, and Artificial Intelligence for Social Good, Dr. Mehdi Hasan has been able to build a technology driven public health portfolio. He began his professional journey with the World Health Organization in Bangladesh as a Technology Analyst. Subsequently, he contributed to BRAC (Bangladesh) as a Software Engineer and expanded his global footprint with roles at Toyota Corporation's R&D in Japan and IBM in the USA.

Currently, he holds a position as a Senior Project Manager and Head of Project Management Office at Essen Healthcare, New York. He is also working as a Visiting Lecturer in the Department of Health & Welfare Science at Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan. Dr. Mehdi is an esteemed reviewer for the International Journal of Advanced Computer Science and Applications, Japan.

Among his notable achievements, Dr. Mehdi was honored with the prestigious Monbukagakusho scholarship by Japan's Ministry of Science and Technology. He earned his Ph.D. in Information Systems from Kyushu University, Japan, and an M.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering from Kobe Institute of Computing, Japan.
