About the Facility
The advanced 1272 Bruker SkyScan system is a lab-based X-ray micro computed tomography system capable of rapid imaging of materials and complex biological specimens across length scales, with resolution from mm to 350nm smallest pixel size with phase contrast enhancement, providing a powerful technique for hierarchical visualization and quantification of biological structures. It can scan samples up to 75mm in diameter and 70mm in length. It is equipped with an integrated micro-positioning stage, automatically variable acquisition geometry and phase-contrast enhancement allow obtaining best possible quality in relatively short scanning time. It comprises an X-ray-safe enclosure and user-friendly computer interface for system operation and image reconstruction software. Images processing is supported by multithreaded GPU-accelerated 3D-reconstruction and realistic visualization by surface and volume rendering. Also, the SkyScan 1272 offers automatic selection of parameters with Genius-Mode. Magnification, energy, filter, exposure time and background corrections can all be optimized automatically with a single click.
