Division of Science Office for Student Success/CCAPP Academic Advising

Mission Statement

The advising mission of our office is to support students as they develop individualized paths through the curriculum, to meet their academic, personal, and professional goals. Academic advisors serve as a primary point of contact, working in collaboration with faculty, campus partners, and College resources to support students' academic success.

A professional academic advisor is available to:

  • Talk about your current and post-graduate aspirations and career goals
  • Review Pathways and Major requirements
  • Course Scheduling
  • Help you to navigate your degree audit (Degree Works)
  • Assist you in resolving issues that are interfering with your academic progress
  • Listen to your concerns and direct you to the best person or resources to assist you
  • Assist with securing internships and scholarships opportunities

Goals of Academic Advising
During the first year, advisors help students to select general education courses, balance study and extracurricular activities and begin thinking about possible majors. Continuing students can expect advisors to provide guidance on choosing a major and staying on track to graduate. Advisors are an important resource for on-campus opportunities such as internships, research, and scholarships.

When to Meet with Advisors
We encourage you to meet with advisors as often as you like. You are required to meet with an advisor to be cleared for registration, however most students meet with an advisor at least once a semester (typically prior to course registration). For an appointment log into Navigate.
