What are NFTs? How do NFTs, art and filmmaking connect? Find out!
Hear from the team that created The Inside World - a sci-fi mystery thriller game - and learn what NFTs (non-fungible tokens) are - and how they used them in this project - connecting art, film, gaming and NFT commerce.
Jennifer and Kevin McCoy, who pioneered the non-fungible token (NFT), recently collaborated with painter and illustrator Peter Rostovsky and writer (and CCNY professor) Annie J. Howell to create The Inside World, a crowdsourced gameplay mystery-thriller using digital art NFTs. The project premiered as part of the New Frontier portion of Sundance '22.
In this experimental fiction delivered via digital art collectibles, Las Vegas is now operated by 14 Artificial Intelligence (AI) “Managers” who handle every sector of the city. The problem is … one of them is secretly human!
Participants collect one or more digital art NFTs depicting the 14 characters, which are combined on blockchain smart contracts to produce 8,000 unique initial NFTs. These game pieces grant access to content on the instant messaging platform, Discord, where a new sort of narrative ectogame (a game without an organizing form) unfolds. Join us Wednesday, March 9th at 6:30 PM to hear from members of the team and find out what this is, why and what it could mean for filmmakers and everyone else.
