GORGONA - Film and Talk
GORGONA by Antonio Tibaldi
Life in prison on a remote island off the coast of Italy, the last active agricultural penal colony in Europe. To be admitted to this “five-star penitentiary”, a set of precise requirements is required: no ties to organized crime, no issues of drug addiction, and a sentence lengthy enough to allow for the re-education program to be effective. Tibaldi’s camera leads the viewer into an unfiltered immersion in the lives of five inmates, an observation of their daily routines, their rapport with each other and the educators, and of the challenging path that lies ahead of them. This stark reality takes place on an island of breath-taking natural beauty.
