Maryam Tuba is the secretary of CCNY Biology Club. She is a sophomore majoring In psychology and is on the pre-med track. She is passionate about closing the healthcare gaps in her community and helping those in need. She has participated in many events to accomplish her goals. She has been in a four-week summer program where she learned many different information surrounding the injustice in her community. She presented a presentation of this issue at the end of her four-week program. She wants to raise awareness of the injustice the minority communities experience. This includes Middle Easterns, African Americans, Hispanics, etc. In addition, she has been in numerous events in which she helped provide food and a listening ear to the homeless population in NYC. She has also participated in an event that helped provide sanitary products to women in poverty. She aims to create a club or a non-profit organization that raises awareness on period poverty and provides assistance to women in poverty. In her spare time, she enjoys taking photos, doing puzzles, and engaging in different cultural activities.
